First let me say, you are making a fantastic choice! I have had the pleasure of living in Middle Tennessee for most of my life. I would tell you how long that majority is, but a lady never reveals her age. The Boro has been, by far, my favorite. This place manages to have everything you need from a bigger city while maintaining its small-town southern feel. All you have to do is take a walk around the  square downtown to understand what I mean. 

A big draw to our city is being the home to Middle Tennessee State University. People from across the country come here to learn at MTSU but end up staying post-graduation. They contribute to a wide variety of local spots, some well-known while others are our hidden gems. The Boro will always have something to pique your interest in town.  

The Square downtown is as charming as it gets. It is home to several local businesses to shop, as well as some delicious spots for food. Puckett’s has the best meat and three and Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger offers over 100 craft beers and the most scrumptious burgers. If you want to get the low down on local history or pay your respects to fallen soldiers, there's also Stones River National Battlefield, Stones River National Cemetery, Cannonsburgh Village, and Oakland Mansion to name a few spots.

Do your kiddos need to work out some energy? Stop by The Discovery Center. It is guaranteed to capture the attention of any child with its hands-on approach styled museum. 

Need a caffeine fix, but do not want to go to the usual Panera, Dunkin, or Starbucks (yes, we have those)? Stop by Just Love Coffee, there are three in town. Just Love started locally and is beloved by all here in Murfreesboro. The Original location is perfect for relaxing with its comfy couches and limited upstairs seating. Give yourself a break from the hustle and bustle while sipping on something warm. Just Love also offers the most delicious breakfast, my favorite being the Womlette served with a hot Coco Loco, a signature latte. 

Are you in the mood for something a little stronger than coffee? You’ll want to check the Mayday Brewery. This place makes for a funky pitstop perfect for grabbing some craft beer, listening to live music while still having a unique family atmosphere. Sing a little karaoke, try out a food truck, do some yoga, take a tour, check out local art, and even stop by when there is a music festival going. Mayday even sells the best pizza in town now, Ahart’s Pizza. 

If you want the pizza without going to the brewery, go straight to the source. Ahart’s Pizza is a local restaurant that’s family owned and operated with a focus on handed down recipes that will surprise your taste buds. 

After the shopping and eating, you might want to take a lovely stroll on any of the several parks, green spaces, or hiking trails that Murfreesboro has to offer. Stones River Greenway is the perfect spot to soak up some sunshine while working off that overindulgences you may have done earlier in the day. Or you could always head to The Avenues of Murfreesboro and enjoy some shopping. The Avenues offers a premier outdoor shopping experience with a mix of specialty shops, boutiques, big-box retailers, and unique restaurants. 

 

And if that is not enough, Murfreesboro is located 30 miles outside Nashville. Do not be afraid to explore everything Nashville has to offer as well.
