The owner of Boro Bowls, Tosha Worthen, says “I serve made to order organic acai & pitaya bowls that are topped with granola, a variety of fresh fruit, superfood toppings, and local honey.” You might be asking yourself, “what is Açai” or “how do I even say that word?” Don’t worry! I’m here to try to help.

What is açai? The dictionary says...the  small edible blackish-purple berries of a South-American palm tree. I say it's a delicious, healthy fruit and that when prepared slightly frozen with other fruits, honey, and granola it is like heaven in your mouth.

How do I pronounce açai? Äsäˈē  Remember from grade school how to pronounce those sounds? Don’t worry, I didn’t either. If it wasn’t for my sister and nieces in Florida, I wouldn’t have had a clue, but remember I said I was here to help. Click here for audio pronunciation

Lesson is over. Let’s talk  BORO BOWLS! This gem is located on the historic downtown Murfreesboro Square at 123 S. Church St. You can’t miss it with its light, almost pastel green building. When you enter, you quickly notice how they have kept the original walls and have made some modern touches. Several tables alongside these walls and a church pew to sit and wait for your To-GO order provide all the seating. In the corner you can find fresh local honey for sell and published newspaper articles, awards, and the red ribbon from their Grand Opening.

Boro Bowl’s menus can also be found on the walls. I have had friends get many of the items they provide and they have all appreciated the handmade  smoothies, dragon fruit and green monster bowls, and avocado toast. I’d like to say I have tried more but that would not be true. I am addicted to the Açai Bowl. I cannot get enough of them. You should go right now and try them.  I eat them for a healthy breakfast, lunch, snack...anytime I’m in the area actually. They are that good! I tried to take a stunning photo to show you a masterpiece however, it looked too good and I had to enjoy a few bites. Sorry not sorry. :)
